27 Custom Christmas Sweaters that are the most loved of all time
I've designed and created over 1,000 Custom Christmas Sweaters for brands all over the world. Our company, Roody, has made more custom Christmas Sweaters for brands than anyone else.
I've included below a list of my favorite Custom Christmas Sweaters and some details about how brands used them. Some of them are incredibly ugly (in a good way) but some are stunning works of art. All of them started with an idea - usually to make something special that team members, clients and fans would LOVE.
1. Odell Brewing Company: Classic Fairisle with a Brewery Twist
Odell Brewing Company, based in Fort Collins, Colorado, is a craft brewery famous for its innovative beers and focus on the community.
Odell have made a number of amazing sweaters and cardigans over the years which have proved insanely popular
This Christmas sweater captures a festive spirit with cozy designs inspired by beer and holiday cheer.
Lots of hops, trees, barrels, snowmen all carefully designed and knitted around the eye catching and stunning logo.
The team at Odell gave the sweaters to staff to wear as a festive vibe and then retailed the sweaters online and at their breweries. They were sold out super fast and required an extra run.
The Odell sweaters remain one of my favorites.
2. IHOP: Pancakes and Bacon
IHOP, short for International House of Pancakes, is an iconic brand all about fluffy pancakes, tasty waffles and breakfast served all day long. It’s famous for stacks of goodness and family-friendly fun.
The IHOP Christmas sweater is pure breakfast magic. At its centre we included the iconic IHOP house surrounded by flying bacon strips, pancakes, and golden waffles, all floating in festive style.
IHOP had a huge giveaway on their social media and this sweater went insanely viral. Millions of impressions of this beautiful piece of knitwear with hundreds of thousands of likes across social media.
Images of the sweaters continued to emerge months (and years) after the initial launch and it remains one of the most loved Christmas Sweaters of all time.
3. Microsoft Windows: Nostalgia Gone Viral
Windows 95 was the software that made computers feel cool and easy for the first time. With its iconic start button, pixelated charm and that unforgettable startup sound, it brought the world into a new era of technology.
While Windows 95 is long since out of date, it remains nostalgic.
This sweater remains one of the most viral pieces of swag of all time. It was delivered to influencers around the world and the reaction was beyond anything seen before or since.
It trended on all social media platforms with fans trying to get their hands on a sweater for months after it launched.
4. Hallmark: Maxines Finest Sweater
Hallmark is one of the biggest brands in the world - associated with everything from cards, tv, gifts, movies and lots more.
Maxine is one their iconic characters —the sassy, no-nonsense grandma who keeps it real with her hilarious one-liners. Whether it’s a mushy card or Maxine’s snarky wisdom, the cards and brand are loved by millions.
What I love about this Christmas Sweater is its simplicity. The brand is already iconic so people will love it - the key is to get out of the way.
Knitting the Maxine character and including her in a beautiful bow made the sweater insanely original. Hallmark used the sweaters as giveaways and the reaction was amazing.
It remains one of the most sought after sweaters we ever created! Thanks Maxine!
5. The Office: A Sweater for Michael Scott
I'm a huge fan of The Office - it's one of the most popular TV shows of all time including an array of characters we all know and love.
The show is based in a company called Dunder Millflin Paper Company and we helped NBC create a sweater that fans would love and wear.
The sweater incorporatesa snaowman, snowflakes and a paperclip which gives a nod to the paper company.
In the middle of the sweater, large clear logo leaves you in no doubt as to who it's for. I love that it doesn't mention "The Office" anywhere apart from on the neck label.
A key part of any great product is the picture and the sweater looks fantastic here. Great light on a redbrick background means the image bounces.
The sweater was available each year for a number of years on the NBC Store website and it sold out every single year. It remains one of my favorite designs.
6. Ironman: Super Speedy Design
The Ironman brand is unique - recognised worldwide as a leading health, fitness and endurance brand.
With raving fans and enthusiastics in every country, Ironman make and sell a lot of amazing merch.
What I love about the Ironman sweater is how the key elements of the brand have been simplified and included in a classic fairisle pattern.
The classic background navy color with icons for cyclcing, running and swimming make this design different to anything else that's been made.
The logo across the hem and on the sleeve means you're in no doubt that this proper official merch to be proud of.
Ironman sold the sweaters through their website and they sold out incredibly quickly requiring an annual rerun.
New designs were created every year but this was absolutely my favorite, I still love it.
Sierra Nevada: Loud Colors and Awesome Beers
I love the Sierra Nevada brand - with humble beginnings, the brand has become one of the best known brewers in the world.
This sweater is effortlessly cool - the logo is really classy and then the amazing sierra nevada mountains in the background.
Hops, snowflakes and clouds are dispersed throughout the design with super loud and bright colors. A couple of beer bottles even made the cut.
The team at Sierra Nevada used these as fan gifts and also shared on social media. Distributors loved the sweaters and the feedback was incredible.
As I said, I'm a huge fan of the brand and they did an amazing job creating a completely unique piece of swag that was loved and will live long in memory.
