7 movies that prove the eternal coolness of the custom hoodieby Jamie Concannon
Some things phase out over time, but a customized hoodie is not one of them.
Whatever stage in life you're enjoying at the moment, we all like a little bit of comfort from time to time. From the food we eat to the chair we sit in and the movies we watch on the TV, it's crucial that we all have our own little ways of making ourselves feel at ease.
A good hoody is a comfort, but it's also so much more than that. You can wear them pretty much anywhere, whether you're kicking back with friends, or earning your corn working from home. The additional benefit of being able to pull up the hood and block out the world for a while isn't exactly a bad thing either.
We make branded merch of all shapes and sizes, but one thing we've definitely noticed of late is that the custom hoodie is becoming an extremely popular choice with our collaborators and partners. Whether it's for a corporate event where you want your stall to hand out better merch than all the others around you, or as a welcome gift for new starters on your team, a hoodie can go a long way.

When it comes to fashion, there is only a small number of clothes items that can be classed as "eternally cool", but hoodies definitely fit the bill. Similarly to the effortlessly classic look of a Hawaiian shirt, they have been something of a mainstay for a very long time.
The OG. It was the movie made made it obligatory to triumphantly throw your arms into the air after running up a flight of stairs, and it was the reason why workout playlist staple "Eye of the Tiger" was brought into the world.
It is also a testament to the power of the hoodie. We all dream of looking like a badass while working out, and no one will ever take away from how untouchable Sylvester Stallone looked jogging down the streets in his iconic grey hoodie.
It's pretty amazing that this movie is already twelve years old, because it hasn't lost a single ounce of its original charm (not to mention pure hilarity). The cast worked together an absolute charm, and some of the scenes are up there with the funniest put on screen in the last twenty years.
They also did an amazing job of making the characters feel real, right down to the wardrobe choices.
3. 8 Mile
Yes, he is nervous. Yes, he may have mom's spaghetti on his sweater already.
All of that aside, Eminem's oft-underrated performance in this semi-biopic is nothing to be sniffed at. On top of the fact it has a great story and even better soundtrack, what really makes this movie stand out is how awesome Marshall looks in a hoodie.
4. Mean Girls
Nearly twenty years on from its release, Mean Girls is still such a phenomenally quotable movie. Whether you're trying to make "fetch" happen or establish the rule of always wearing pink on Wednesdays, it's simply always a good movie to dip back into.
It's also worth addressing the truly iconic look pulled off by Daniel Franzese in the purple hoodie and sunglasses. Another bonus with hoodies is that if you want to keep a low profile, just pull that hood right up. We definitely don't recommend trying to sneak in somewhere you shouldn't be, especially when you don't even go here, but sometimes it's nice to be keep a low profile!
5. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse
It's not just live action movies that are worth watching, and it's not just live action hoodies that look awesome. Into the Spider-Verse is one of the best written superhero movies of the past decade (and hell, there's been a lot of them), and its set of characters are nothing short of sensational.
One such example of these characters is Spider-Gwen, played by Hailee Steinfeld. The simple addition of a hood to her costume makes a huge difference to her costume, making her look cooler than... dare we say it... Spider-Man himself.
6. Star Wars: A New Hope
We might be playing fast and loose with our definition of a hoodie with these last two examples, but they probably didn't have modern hoodies a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. Star Wars is arguably the biggest franchise of all time, and the first movie is definitely one of the most influential ever movies ever made as it inspired a cinematic universe that is only growing bigger by the year.
When Obi-Wan first revealed himself, what is the image that comes to mind? For many, it is the late Alec Guinness drawing back his hood to reveal his face to the audience for the very first time.
Now, imagine trying to create that same effect with a plain old sweater...
7. E.T.: The Extra Terrestrial
One of the scary things about looking back through classic movies is you come away feeling amazing at how the years are flying by. This Spielberg classic is now more than forty years old, which makes it all the more impressive that pointing out your finger and saying "E.T. phone home" is a reference that most people will still get.
You could probably draw the silhouette of Elliott cycling with E.T. in the front basket, and most of those people who got the reference would also instantly know what movie the drawing represents. It's a scene that has etched itself into Hollywood history, and a big part of that is the bright red hoodie he was wearing at the time.
