4 design tips to create your Hawaiian shirt
Creating a Hawaiian Shirt from scratch is such an exciting process - but where do you start? We asked our Graphic Designers for some tips on how to create an amazing custom Hawaiian Shirt design. The tips are all below.
What are your recommendations for submitting a design request for a custom Hawaiian shirt?
If you know what you'd like, that's great. Things that are really helpful to share are colors, logos (or imagery) and examples of shirts you like. If you have brand guidelines, we're happy to use them but if not, that's no problem.
If you're not sure what you want, that's no problem - just let us know what you're using the shirts for and we'll be very happy to create something special for you.
We have lots of examples of Hawaiian shirts we've made for other clients and you can take a look and pick the shirt you like the most.
What kind of images files do I need for the design process of a Hawaiian shirt?
If you have an image or logo that you'd like to use, we just need a vector file (like an AI or PDF) or else a transparent png. If you're not sure what these are just send the images to us and we'll be happy to let you know - no jargon, we promise :-).
If you'd like to include a couple of additional images, for example, a teddy bear, a dog or a plane we can share our stock image website where you can choose what you'd like on your shirt.
You don't need to provide general assets such as flowers, leaves etc. However if you have has very specific assets you would like on your shirt, for example an image of your product, we'll be happy to include that image on your shirt.
For the best and quickest results, all the necessary assets should be provided in the correct format from the beginning.
How do you manage changes and adjustments in the design process?
We send the design to the clients by email and a back and forth process of feedback will begin until the clients are absolutely satisfied with the look of the Hawaiian shirts.
The initial design is usually back the next day.
We manage design changes by following a clear and simple process. First, we carefully review the client's request for design changes. Our design team then makes the necessary adjustments and sends the updated design to the client for approval. If any further changes are needed, we implement the client's feedback. Once the client is happy with the changes, we finalize the design.
This process ensures that you get exactly what you want.
What type of design works best for clients?
The most popular design is the classic Hawaiian style. Most of our clients will go for leaves, palm trees and flowers, and they mix in a little bit of their branding, corporate colors, and some elements that have to do with their industry.
Some clients request more of the Hawaiian elements and less of their branding, but some others want mostly their branding and not very much of anything else. So that's just up to the client how much they want to balance the Hawaiian elements with their corporate elements. We find the best results have a mix between the two with smaller brand elements.
